Local SEO Planning

When approaching local SEO a small business owner will easily get overwhelmed by the project if proper preparation is not done beforehand. As with every project, there are steps that must be taken in order to smoothly complete a well-formulated local SEO plan. We will look closely at a few basic steps that should be taken at the beginning and planning stages of a local SEO strategy.
Firstly you should create a list of information based on your business. This list should include crucial information such as your business name, address and phone number. The state, city, neighborhood and even local terms related to your neighborhood and city. This might sound simple and inconsequential, but if you are working with a team of people that might not know this information as well as you mistakes can happen. Having these on a list that is readily available to anyone working on your local SEO strategy, website, or business listings can help keep your listings consistent and accurate.
Secondly, if you have a website and are trying to bring more local customers to your website you will want to have a good bit of content preplanned and ready to be used. These will allow you to quickly publish your content and begin growing a positive local SEO score. Search engines such as Google have moved away from using purely metadata and use your websites content to pull keywords. The best suggestion is to have two to three different blogs ready.
Finally, you will want to set up your social media accounts. These are crucial in the long run to the success of not only your business but your local SEO strategy as well. Social media accounts will allow you to create backlinks to your website, promote your brand and list your NAP (name, address, phone number) information on other platforms.
These are just a few steps you should consider taking in advance of starting a local SEO strategy. You can always work with a professional who will do these things for you, but to expedite the process it is always a good idea to take the initiative.
