What is Local SEO?

SEO is a computing term which is short for "Search Engine Optimization." It's a process of maximizing visitors to a particular website since it appears on top of search engine results.
You'd type in keywords for a product that you want to purchase like a watch, for example, and you'll see a search result that is relevant to your search.
Even though SEO is a computing term because the search results have a lot to do with the algorithm or a method of parsing through a database with information about your website, web developers, SEO specialist, marketers or digital marketers use several methods of making sure there is an optimum visibility of the website.
Local SEO, on the other hand, focuses more on business locations. While, it's assumed that a business has a website, maximizing business location rather than only the website is the main focus of local SEO marketing strategy. There are generally four things to keep in mind when subscribing to local SEO service.
- Claiming your business from the local online directory with Yelp, Google Business, Facebook, and more. You can either sign-up individually or sign-up for a local SEO service (find out more on details, and why). If you do end up signing up individually, keep in mind that there are about 40 major online directories that are significant. You have to make sure that all your business contact like address, hours of operations, logo are consistent all throughout. Keep a record of all your usernames and passwords. Inaccurate information could hurt your local SEO ranking.

- Coordinate with your web developer to make sure that addresses are geo-tagged, where the HTML codes are invoked that promote your local SEO ranking
- Getting reviews and responding to them. There are many customers who love to do their research by reading reviews of the products or services they like to buy. Responding to them is important as well.
With local SEO, a business will increase not just visitors to websites but also to their business location. If you have a brick and mortar business like a store or an office, you'll be helping your customers find your location. If you happen to be a contractor where customer visits aren't necessary, it's also important to submit your listing anyway. Customers also love to call their local business. For example, customers in San Diego or Los Angeles, seek out for local businesses with accurate phone number and business of operation.
In summary, SEO is a process of maximizing visitors to websites. Web developers, SEO specialists, and marketers use several techniques to rank website presence on search engines. Additionally, local SEO complements these other techniques since businesses can benefit from ranking their presence locally where customers seek them.
